Applications

H-Dab(Z)-OH is γ-diaminobutyric acid (Dab) with an unprotected α-amine and a Z (Cbz, benzyloxycarbonyl) protecting group on the side-chain amine. It is a non-natural amino acid widely used in peptide synthesis.

Main Applications

Synthesis of Antimicrobial Peptides (AMPs) - Dab is a key building block in antimicrobial peptides, providing extra positive charge, strong interaction with bacterial membranes, and structural diversity. Common peptide families include Polymyxins (Polymyxin B, Colistin/Polymyxin E) and synthetic antimicrobial lipopeptides.
Cyclic Peptides / Lipopeptide Design - Dab contains both α- and γ-amino groups, enabling side-chain cyclization, head-to-sidechain or sidechain-to-tail linking, and fatty acid coupling in lipopeptide synthesis.
Improving Solubility & Stability of Peptides - Dab increases overall positive charge, enhancing water solubility, improving binding to biological targets, and stabilizing peptide structure.
Drug Delivery & Peptide Modification Research - Applied in solubility enhancement of peptide drug candidates, cell-penetrating peptides (CPP), and linker design for drug conjugation.
